NEW DELHI: Home minister Rajnath Singh took the lead on Tuesday to assure Parliament that the Centre will make every effort to ensure release of Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death on Monday by a Pakistani military court for ‘spying and fomenting unrest’ in Balochistan.

“The whole House is agitated. The whole country is concerned. In March 2016, he was kidnapped by Pakistan but was presented as a spy. The Pakistani media was told then that he had a valid Indian passport. How can he be a spy then,” the home minister said, condemning the sentence. “This exposes Pakistan’s action,” he said.

“The government strongly condemns it. All norms of law and justice were ignored. I want to assure the House that the government will do everything possible to get justice for Jadhav. He will get justice,” he said.
