NEW DELHI: Police chiefs from India and the United States will get together next month to jointly brainstorm on the Mumbai 26/11 terror attack and other serial blasts in India, besides discussing ways to secure urban centres and mass transit systems.

As part of the India-US Homeland security dialogue, the home ministry is organising the first India-US Police Chiefs Conference in Delhi on December 4-5 .

Police chiefs of top US units like New York Police Department (NYPD), Boston Police and the FBI will share their experience of tackling terror with police chiefs from J&K, Hyderabad, Maharashtra, Bengaluru and Delhi.

US Ambassador Nancy Powell will address the conference, along with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and the Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA) Nehchal Sandhu. The main topic at the conference, where a presentation will be made on the 26/11 terrorist attack and various serial blasts in Hyderabad over the years, will be the response of security forces to mass casualty events.

The US police chiefs will share their experience with former home secretary Madhukar Gupta, who was in service when the 26/11 attack took place, Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra Sanjeev Dayal, Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad, Anurag Sharma and DGP of Assam, JN Choudhary.
