India, US entrepreneurs to work jointly in energy tech

NEW DELHI: A delegation of entrepreneurs from India and USA on Tuesday decided to work together in energy and environmental technology sector with emphasis on low-cost energy efficient fuel to mitigate climate change threats.
Prodipto Ghosh, member of PM's Council on climate change and FICCI Chairman, said there was a huge potential in Indian waste recycling industry, which has helped in a significant way in reducing greenhouse gas emission.
Ghosh said major energy using sectors, steel, cement, aluminium, have become more energy efficient over the past 20 years.
He was speaking on the second day of the first meeting of Indo-US task force on shaping global innovation economy-enhancing cooperation in India, organised by FICCI.
K G Duleep, managing director, transportation, energy and environmental analysis emphasised on promotion of new "mild" hybrid technology for the transport sector.
Phiroze J Nagarvala, India country manager, Bechtel Group said, "How long the government will continue to please the farmers by offering them subsidy in power sector. This has only increased the liabilities of the state, deterring investments."
