"Both India and the United States share their commitment to democracy," he said while addressing the fourth US-India Energy Partnership Summit here organised by TERI in association with the Yale University and FICCI.

"We do know that for the first time, since partition, for the first time in the history of Pakistan, democratic elections, whatever its shortcomings has resulted in peaceful transfer of power - from one elected civilian government to the other," he said.
"So both India and the US can feel some joy and take some pride in the hope that democracy continues to march forward," Gore said.
