NEW DELHI: India will not be sharing hard evidence of Pakistan’s links with recent terror attacks here, including the 7/11 Mumbai train blasts and the Attari train explosions, at the first meeting of the Indo-Pak joint anti-terror mechanism on March 6, but will verbally convey the outcome of investigations that establish the trail to Pakistan-based terror outfits.

The decision not to part with the hard copy of evidence, including transcripts of incriminating phone conversations between Pakistan-based terror commanders and their handlers here shortly after the terror strikes, including Attari train blasts, is essentially to prevent any misuse or tampering by the other side.

Also, with the chargesheet yet to be filed in some of the terror cases, the risk of courts’ objecting to sharing of evidence with an external agency beforehand, has forced the government to withhold, at least for now, the documentary proof of role of Pakistani citizens and Pakistan-based terror outfits in the terror attacks here.

The Indian side, led by additional secretary in the MEA KC Singh and comprising a joint secretary of the MHA and official from the IB, will however share enough details of the conspiracy behind the terror attacks, including the addresses of terror suspects in Pakistan and details of statements of those arrested in connection with the blasts.

The purpose, according to informed sources, is to let it be known to Islamabad that our investigative agencies know how a particular attack was masterminded and executed by a Pakistan-based terror outfit.
