India to give proof against Pakistan at UN
NEW DELHI: India will up the ante on Pakistan in the backdrop of the Uri attack when Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj presents evidence of Islamabad’s complicity in the terror strike at the UN General Assembly later this month.

The decision to diplomatically isolate Islamabad at various international forums was reached at a highlevel meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi here on Monday. It is learnt that the government is gathering irrefutable evidence against the Pakistan army and the ISI in the attack on the Uri camp.

The Modi government has been exposing Pakistan by building a narrative on cross-border terror since the current impasse in Kashmir started in July and will now intensify efforts to isolate the neighbouring country. The UN General Assembly in New York and the just-concluded Non Aligned Movement summit presented India with back-to-back opportunities to name and shame Pakistan’s designs.

At the NAM summit, one of the 120 member-states scuttled India’s proposal for creating a working group against terrorism. The final draft declaration of NAM, however, strongly condemned terrorism and vowed to combat it.

Swaraj’s bilateral meetings at the UN will see her seeking support for its stand on cross-border terror. Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar hit out at Pakistan, saying it had reduced itself to a “pariah” status in the international community because of its blatant sponsorship of terrorism.
