India surpasses Brazil, jumps to second spot in total Covid-19 cases

The data published by the Union Ministry shows that the CFR was 2.15 per cent on August 1 and stands at 1.72 per cent on September 6.
India jumped to second spot in total coronavirus cases surpassing Brazil and just behind the US.

On Sunday, India saw a fresh spike of over 90,000 cases even though the health ministry said that the case fatality rate has dropped below 2 per cent and is falling continuously.

The data published by the Union Ministry shows that the CFR was 2.15 per cent on August 1 and stands at 1.72 per cent on September 6.


With 90,802 cases, the total has crossed the 42 lakh mark. A total of 32,50,429 people have recuperated so far that has pushed the national recovery rate to 77.30 per cent on Monday.

The total number of active cases are 8,82,542, which comprises 20.99 per cent of the total caseload.

World over, the cases have topped the 27 million mark.
