Reuters reported citing witnesses that the city’s power was blacked out after the explosion.
They said that nine sites were targeted and the actions carried out are focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. It was also made very clear that no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.
India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution. According to ET sources, the strike was a joint operation by the Indian Army and Air Force using precision strike weapons.
These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” officials said.
News agency ANI, citing sources, reported that Indian forces deliberately selected strike locations to target senior leadership of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba for their involvement in orchestrating and supporting terrorist activities against India.
Moreover, the name "Operation Sindoor" seems to have been taken to avenge the death of young Indians who were in Kashmir to celebrate their wedding, in particular navy Lt Vinay Narwal. A photo of his wife post the dastardly attack went viral, evoking strong sentiments across the country.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the move in a post on X. "Victory to Mother India!," he wrote.
