India steadfast in support to counter terrorism: Ananth Kumar

BJP leader Ananth Kumar said that India continues to be committed to global peace and was steadfast in its support to counter terrorism.

United Nations: Senior BJP leader Ananth Kumar, also the chairman of the Parliamentary standing committee on External Affairs, said that India continues to be committed to global peace and was steadfast in its support to counter terrorism.

Addressing the 24th Plenary of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly here yesterday, Kumar said, "India is committed to global peace, upholding human rights and is steadfast in its support for counter-terrorism".

Before he began his speech, Kumar extended his greeting to all those present in Kannada.

The Plenary deliberated the Report of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Tribunal for the territory of former Yugoslavia.

Kumar said that he would "like to join others in thanking the President of the ICTY, Judge Meron and the President of the ICTR, Judge Joensen for their excellent presentations and congratulate them for expediting the work of the Tribunals".

"India welcomes the progress made by the two Tribunals to implement their Completion Strategy," he added.
