HANOVER: Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser said India shouldn’t just remain a back office as the world is not only about software engineers, but is also about manufacturing and engineering.

While praising the Prime Minister and acknowledging his efforts to improve the business climate in India, he said before making in India, “let the government make it happen in India”. The comments came during a panel discussion.

Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry, while admitting that there were a number of challenges, went out of the way to argue that changes were happening at several fronts. “Inflation is trending down, interest rates are trending lower and we’ve all the possible signals,” Mistry said. “Building blocks will take time.”
