NEW DELHI: Sharing concerns over expanding web of global terrorism, India and Russia on Tuesday discussed ways to increase cooperation to fight the menace more effectively.

During the meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) here, the two sides expressed concern over the revival of Taliban and increase in drug production in Afghanistan as finances raised through narcotic sale could be used to fund terrorism.

On the bilateral front, the two sides felt that Indo-Russian cooperation against terrorism was not adequate, considering that the menace was witnessing rapid expansion in terms of areas being afflicted by it.

They agreed that there was need for enhancing bilateral cooperation against terror, official sources said.

With regard to Afghanistan, the two sides shared concern over the bumper harvest of drug crop this year. They felt that the finances raised through the sale of the narcotic could be used to fund terrorism.
