India raises visa issue with Kyrgyzstan

India on Wednesday expressed concern over the delays faced by Indian businessmen in obtaining visas to Kyrgyzstan. NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday expressed concern over the delays faced by Indian businessmen in obtaining visas to Kyrgyzstan.

The issue was raised when Kyrgyz Foreign Affairs Minister Ednan Karabaev met Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath here.

An official release quoted Nath as saying that Indian entrepreneurs faced difficulties in obtaining visas for Kyrgyzstan.

The two sides also discussed steps required to increase trade in food processing, textiles, agriculture, science and technology, tourism, information technology, chemical and pharmaceutical.

Nath said the business climate in India offered tremendous potential for investments by global companies.

Trade between the two countries stood at 38 million dollars last year. Indian exports constituted wool, cotton, accessories, handicraft, machinery, cosmetics and toiletries while it imported raw wool, raw silk, crude minerals, metalifers ores and metal scrap from Kyrgyzstan.
