India provides Rs 11.68 mn aid to Nepal build old age home, school

KATHMANDU: Indian government has provided INR 11.68 mn for the construction of an old age home and a school in western Nepal.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood handed over the newly constructed building of Bheri Bridhaashram (Old age home) in Nepalgunj of Banke district to the local community.
Sood also laid the foundation stone for a new building of Shree Nepal Rashtriya Middle School in Dodhari Village Development Committee of Bardiya district.
Sood is on a two-day visit to mid-western districts of Nepal, which began yesterday.
As part of the Indian-assisted Small Development Project Programme, India has been providing financial assistance of about INR 2.68 billion for over 260 projects in the sectors of education, health and social infrastructure all over Nepal, which have been undertaken in response to local needs and in consultation with government of Nepal.
Bheri Bridha Ashram, established in 1996 and run by Bheri Old & Destitute Service Centre in Nepalgunj is the only ashram for the old and destitute people in mid-western region.
The school situated at Dodhari is holding classes in old and dilapidated infrastructure.
