India today pledged to provide a grant assistance of Rs 41.83 million for the construction of a cooperative promotion centre in Nepal.

KATHMANDU: India today pledged to provide a grant assistance of Rs 41.83 million for the construction of a cooperative promotion centre in Nepal.

A MoU was signed between officials of the Embassy of India here and the District Cooperative Union of Lalitpur, bordering Kathmandu.

The District Cooperative Union Lalitpur was established in 1972 with the aim to promote,support and coordinate its member cooperatives.

It has been carrying out promotional activities to develop and strengthen cooperatives and its member farmers.

DCULL was planning to construct a Cooperative Promotion Centre (CPC) to accommodate large number of users and their multiple needs.

It will also serve as an Information Centre for the people who has interest in the field of agricultural products.

The construction of Cooperative Promotion Centre will enhance the marketing capability of the cooperatives and their farmer members and establish direct linkages between farmers and consumers.

The project will directly benefit more than 2 lakhs people of Lalitpur and adjoining districts.

In addition to this project, work is going on for other 5 other projects at an outlay of Rs 179.43 million in Lalitpur District.
