India, Pakistan should demarcate boundaries: Pakistani activist

NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan should demarcate their boundaries and engage in dialogue process to put an end to tension arising out of the ceasefire violations along the LoC, a Pakistani activist said here today.

"Boundary issues generate all other problems. There is no demarcation of border between India and Pakistan even after 65 years of Independence," said Karamat Ali, activist and member of Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research.

He was speaking at a convention on 'South Asia beyond borders', organised by 'People's SAARC', to address issues confronting South Asian countries.

Speaking at the convention, senior Pakistani journalist Beena Sarwar favoured relaxing visa norms by governments of both the countries to enable more people-to-people exchange.

"Visa issue makes it difficult for people to travel. The governments of both the countries should ease visa restrictions in order to enable more people-to-people exchange. Terrorists don't come on visa. David Headley did but that does not mean you will punish common people for that," she said.

She said there was no enmity between people of both the countries.

"I meet people here but I see no hostility even now when there is so much tension along the LoC. As people of India and Pakistan, we are not enemies, we don't wish harm upon each other...we want each other to live peacefully, she said.
