HYDERABAD: India is considering to bid for next year's senior men's Asia Cup hockey tournament but will make a final call at the two-day ad-hoc committee meeting here on Sunday.

The meeting on Sunday, to be attended by hockey Olympians, will also take some crucial decisions regarding Indian hockey.

"We have not taken a final decision on bidding for the senior Asia Cup. We are having a meeting on Sunday which will be attended by hockey Olympians. A final decision will be taken there," ad-hoc committee convenor Mohd. Aslam Khan told PTI here today.

"If we decide we are going to bid for it, we will place our proposal in the executive council meeting of the Asian Hockey Federation (AHC) here on July 17," he added.

Others in the race for the biennial tournament are Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The tournament is also an Asian qualifying event for the 2010 World Cup, which has been provisionally awarded to India.
