India keen on getting more Omani LNG

During the meeting, the cooperation between the two countries, particularly in energy fields, and matters of common concern were discussed, the Omani news agency said.

DUBAI: India has expressed its desire to get additional quantity of Omani Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to meet its future energy requirements.

The topic of increased supplies came up for discussion during a meeting between N Ravi, Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Mohammed bin Hamad Al Romhi, Oman's Minister of Oil and Gas, in Muscat yesterday.

During the meeting, the cooperation between the two countries, particularly in energy fields, and matters of common concern were discussed, the Omani news agency said.

Nassir bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Undersecretary at the Omani Oil and Gas Ministry, said the Indian official expressed his country's desire to get additional quantity of Omani liquefied natural gas.

He said Al Romhi pointed out there is a possibility to sell some immediate shipments of the liquefied gas if available from Oman LNG company and Qalhat LNG company.

The meeting also touched on the USD 956 million Oman-India fertilisers project based in Sur.

India and Oman also held the fifth meeting of the strategic consultation team as part of a regular dialogue between the two countries.
