Rahul Gandhi's comments came amid a spurt in coronavirus cases in India. 147 people have so far been infected in the country and three persons have lost their lives.
The pandemic has rocked businesses that were already battling a slowdown for some time now.
Authorities have now advised businesses to allow workers to work from home. A number of companies have reportedly sent workers on leave without pay.
