India has emerged as Vishwa Mitra: Amit Shah

GANDHINAGAR: While India has come up from being the 11th largest economy of the world to being the fifth largest over last decade, as Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister for the consecutive third term, India will climb the ladder up to the third position within next five years, Union home minister Amit Shah said this here on Friday.

He was delivering the concluding address of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, 2024 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. India has emerged as the Vishwa Mitra (World's Friend) over the years, Shah said adding that while Friday is the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, it was Swami Vivekananda who had fortified the wounded confidence of the nation that was ravaged by the foreign aggressors over centuries and gave confidence to the youth and it is on these bases that the great India is being created today.

Talking about Vibrant Gujarat Summit at its tenth edition, Shah said that on a hind sight, Vibrant Gujarat Summit has provided platform to innovation and ideas and materialised investments on ground that has not only benefitted the state but the country at large. "Several states have also started emulating the example," Shah added.


Shah also recollected the launching of GIFT City, Dholera SIR and other various infrastructural projects of the state and said that the reforms initiated by Narendra Modi government have become a cornerstone for change.

Underlining the transformations of the country over the last decade, Shah said that ten years years back India was considered as one of the fragile five economies, which has now emerged as one of the top five economies. The country has made a journey from a silent prime minister to a visionary and vibrant Prime Minister, he added.
