Covid-19: India's tally reaches 2,16,919 with record spike of 9,304 cases
The number of Covid positive cases in India rose by 9,304 in the past 24 hours, a fresh single-day peak, latest data from Union Health ministry showed.

As per the update at 8 am, the number of total cases has now reached 2,16,919. Fatalties so far are 6,075, a jump of 260 since the last update.

This is the sixth consecutive day that the country's daily death count has risen by more than 200.


According to an analysis of two 15-day periods from May 7 to June 1, the positivity rate for Covid has doubled in Delhi.

The rate continued to be high in Maharashtra and slowed in Gujarat during the period under review.

Meanwhile, with 1,04,107 people discharged/cured till last count, the recovery rate in India has reached a high 49.6%.
