India Covid count, May 1: Cases touch 35,043, deaths at 1,147

Total coronavirus cases in India have gone past the 35,000 mark, Union Health ministry's daily update showed.

As of 8 am today, India has a total of 35,043 confirmed Covid-19 cases. As many as 1,147 people have died from the disease. 8,889 have been cured.

With cases at 10,498 and 459 deaths, Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state in the country. Next was Gujarat with 4,395 cases and 214 deaths, followed by Delhi (3,515 cases, 59 deaths), Health ministry data showed.


The other states with high number of cases include Madhya Pradesh (2,660), Rajasthan (2,584), Tamil Nadu (2,323) and Uttar Pradesh (2,203).

Global numbers, meanwhile, have touched 32,49,022, as of the morning hours today. Fatal cases worldwide have gone up to 2,30,804. The US alone accounts for 63,000 of total global casualties.
