India coronavirus count passes 78,000; casualties cross 2,500

At 8 am, the death toll was at 2,549. As many as 26,235 people have been cured/discharged. With 25,922 cases, Maharashtra continued to top the country's Covid chart. It was followed by Gujarat (9,267) and Delhi (7,998).

Covid-19: India tally nears 80k-mark; over 3,700 fresh cases in past 24 hours
India's official coronavirus count touched 78,003 today, Union Health Ministry's daily update showed.

At 8 am, the death toll was at 2,549. As many as 26,235 people have been cured/discharged.

With 25,922 cases, Maharashtra continued to top the country's Covid charts. It was followed by Gujarat (9,267) and Delhi (7,998).


At last count, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had tested 18,54,250 samples for the virus.

Globally, the case count was at 43,42,565 as of morning hours today. Currently at 2,96,690, worldwide casualties are fast nearing the 3 lakh mark.
