India coronavirus count nears 82,000; deaths at 2,649

The official coronavirus count in India neared 82,000 today, according to Union Health Ministry's daily update.

As of morning hours today, total number of cases stood at 81,970, with casualties so far being 2,649. As many as 27,920 have been cured/discharged, the govt website showed.

At 27,524, Maharashtra continued to have the most cases by far, followed by Gujarat with 9,591 cases and Delhi with 8,470.


The total number of samples tested for the virus stood at 19,47,041 at last count, as per data from ICMR.

Globally, the number of cases was at 44,37,442 during morning hours today. Fatalities worldwide, at last count, stood at 3,02,025.
