India coronavirus count, May 11: Cases cross 67,000, first 4,000+ rise in a single day

As of 8 am today, the number of the dead so far in the country is 2,206. As many as 20,917 people have been declared as cured/discharged. With 22,171 cases, Maharashtra remains the most affected state, followed by Gujarat (8,194) and Delhi (6,923).

India's Corona count crosses 67,000 mark after 4,213 new cases appear in last 24 hours
Union Health ministry's daily update today put India's latest official coronavirus count at 67,152. This was the first time in India that the case count jumped by more than 4,000 in a single day.

As of 8 am today, the number of the dead so far in the country is 2,206. As many as 20,917 people have been declared as cured/discharged.

With 22,171 cases, Maharashtra remains the most affected state, followed by Gujarat (8,194) and Delhi (6,923).


At last count, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had tested 16,09,037 samples for the virus.

Meanwhile, the states of the east have begun to feel the impact of the return of migrant workers. West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar together reported several hundreds of cases yesterday.

The global case count was at 40,97,158 as of morning hours today. A total 2,82,495 people have died worldwide so far.
