In his message to his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain on the eve of their National Day, the President extended his greetings to the people of Pakistan.

NEW DELHI: India is committed to peaceful, friendly relations with Pakistan and cooperation between the two countries will lead to progress and prosperity in the region, President Pranab Mukherjee said here today.

In his message to his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain on the eve of their National Day, the President extended his greetings to the people of that country.

"India remains committed to peaceful, friendly and cooperative relations with Pakistan. I am of the firm conviction that our cooperation will lead to progress and prosperity in our region," he said in his message.

"I take this opportunity to extend my best wishes for your good health and well-being," he said.

Pakistan Day will be celebrated tomorrow.
