India against corruption: Left Parties to hold protest marches against Anna's arrest

CPI(M) Politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai said left parties would hold protest marches at the national level in support of Anna Hazare's cause.

THRISSUR: CPI(M) Politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai said the left parties would hold protest marches at the national level in support of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare's cause.

The arrests were 'flagrant violation of fundamental rights and freedom of expression',he told reporters here.

Pillai said the LDF would launch agitations demanding resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy (in the wake of a vigilance court ordering a probe into his alleged role in the 1992 palmolein oil import deal).

Replying to questions, he said the observations of astrologers in connection with the opening of vaults at the Thiruvananthapuram Sree Padmanabaswamy temple, would promote 'superstitions and outdated rituals. Such a trend of astrologers is not healthy,' he said.

The astrologers' observations would be brought to the Supreme Court's notice,he added.
