India Against Corruption activists manhandled in Farrukhabad

LUCKNOW: Activists of India Against Corruption were allegedly manhandled by some people in union law minister Salman Khurshid's constituency Farrukhabad where they had gone to do preparatory work for social activist Arvind Kejriwal's proposed visit next month.

IAC's local convenor Laxman Singh along with a Delhi based journalist along with others were surveying Pitaura village in Kayamganj, Farrukhabad when some people on motor bikes banged on their car window and forced their car to stop. They were allegedly manhandled by the youths.

It is alleged that the youths who did this were Salman Khurshid's supporters.

The IAC members submitted a written complaint to the police regarding the incident, confirmed SP, Farrukhabad OP Singh.

Kejriwal had recently alleged that the Zakir Hussian Memorial Trust controlled by Khurshid's wife, Louise Khurshid had siphoned funds meant for welfare of disabled people and submitted false documents to the central government to get grants worth several lakhs. Kejriwal had said that he would visit Farrukhabad to take the battle against corruption to the native place of Khurshid.

The allegations were refuted by Salman Khurshid who has taken the matter to court.

At a closed door meeting of youth workers of the Congress on Wednesday, Salman Khurshid had dared Kejriwal to visit Farrukhabad. "Let him come to Farrukhabad and try and return from here" he said.

Khurshid also said that he will fight against Kejriwal not only through the power of pen but also by blood.
