India Against Corruption (IAC) activists today staged a demonstration here and tried to gherao Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's residence.

BHUBANESWAR: India Against Corruption ( IAC) activists today staged a demonstration here and tried to gherao Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's residence.

Around 30 activists of IAC were detained by police at different localities including Master Canteen square and near Naveen Niwas in Air Field area as a preventive measure, police said.

Several activists shouted slogans and held placards against corruption and black money stashed abroad. They also hit out at the BJD government in Odisha alleging large scale corruption in mining activities and allotment of coal blocks.

Police held around 15 agitating protesters while they gathered outside Naveen Niwas, the Chief Minister's residence. Over 15 others were detained while demonstrating at Master Canteen square, they said.

No untoward incident was reported and the protest passed off peacefully, they added.
