Independent contesting from Nashik hurt in mishap, wife killed



NASHIK: An independent candidate of Nashik Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency - Maqsood Illiyas Khan - was seriously injured in a road accident on Bhopal-Indore highway near village Ashta in Madhya Pradesh while his wife was killed, family sources said on Tuesday.

The mishap took place on Monday afternoon when the driver of the car in which they were travelling lost control and the vehicle overturned, they said.

While Khan sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a local hospital in MP along with the injured driver and a friend, his wife Mahenigar was killed on the spot.

The accident occurred when they were returning to Nashik after attending a family marriage in Bhopal, sources added.
