Income tax dept raids premises linked to DMK MP S Jagathrakshakan & his relatives

The Income Tax department on Thursday conducted raids at the premises linked toformer Union Minister and current Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) member of Parliament S Jagathrakshakan in Tamil Nadu.

Over 40 premises linked to the MP in Tamil Nadu are being searched by the Income Tax Department.

The searches were being held at many places, including some educational institutions, sources told PTI without divulging details.


Jagathrakshakan is a Lok Sabha MP from the Arakonnam constituency of Tamil Nadu and has been elected from his constituency thrice.


Earlier, the Income Tax Department carried out searches at approximately ten locations in Karur, Tamil Nadu, that were associated with Senthil Balaji, a DMK minister who is currently in custody. On June 14, he was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate as part of a money laundering investigation.
