Incidents on LoC have not affected Indo-Pak trade: Government

New Delhi: The government said that incidents on the Line of Control in recent months have not affected trade between India and Pakistan.

"Incidents on the Line of Control in the past few months have not affected bilateral trade between India and Pakistan," Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D Purandeswari said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

Tensions have been mounted between the two countries after the killing of five Indian soldiers along the LoC in Poonch sector, Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2012-13, the bilateral trade between the countries stood at USD 2.35 billion.

Purandeswari informed that the trade is conducted mostly through Mumbai-Karachi sea route and Attari-Wagah land route.

She also said that both the sides have made considerable progress in improving bilateral trade ties.

India's main exports to Pakistan include oil meals, chemicals, rubber and petroleum while imports include cement, gypsum and dry fruits.
