In Tripura 12 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were tested positive for COVID-19.

With these cases the total number of cases has gone up to 14. Tripura chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted, “12 persons from 138th #BSF unit Ambassa found #COVID19 positive. Total #COVID19 positive cases in Tripura stands at 16 (2 already discharged, so active cases: 14) don’t panic, follow the Gov't guidelines. We are working vigilantly for your safety.”

On Saturday two BSF personnel from Ambassa had tested positive. “As many as 68 samples were collected who came in contact with the first case and out of which 12 cases so far tested positive. Two BSF personnel who tested positive on Saturday belonged to Assam."


Tripura was COVID free after the first patient, a 45-year-old woman who tested positive for the virus on April 6 following her return from Assam by train was discharged on April 15.
