The Congress is organising 'Bharose Ka Sammelan' (Conference of Trust) in Chhattisgarh to reach out to different sections of voters ahead of the assembly elections. As part of the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge visited Janjgir-Champa in Bilaspur division, which has the highest SC population in the state, to address the second 'Bharosa Rally'.

The Congress has carefully selected the venue for Kharge as he too belongs to the SC. In 2018, out of four SC reserved constituencies in Bilaspur, the Congress could win only one while the BJP won two and the BSP one. With Kharge's address, the Congress has reached out to the community in the region.

Kharge on Sunday expressed confidence that his party will once again win the Chhattisgarh assembly polls due this year-end. Kharge said that by comparing Manipur with Chhattisgarh, PM Modi has humiliated the people of Chhattisgarh.

"A 'Bharose Ka Sammelan' is being held in Chhattisgarh because the Congress government of the state has fulfilled all the promises it made to the people of Chhattisgarh. On the other hand, all the promises of the Modi government turned out to be false, not even a single promise was fulfilled," Kharge told the crowd.

"The Congress is so strong in Chhattisgarh that no power can break it. It was from here that I was elected to the post of Congress president. After I became the president, we faced two elections. One Himachal and the other Karnataka. With your blessings, we won both the states with a huge majority," he said.

This was the second 'Bharosa Sammelan' organised by the Congress.
