In Firozabad, 94% turnout at booth forces repolling halt

AGRA: Polling was allegedly stopped at a booth in Sirsaganj, Firozabad after it witnessed 94% polling by 3pm on Tuesday, during the repolls. Sources said the district administration, apprehensive of adverse action by the Election Commission due to unusually large voter turnout, decided to halt voting for a while.

The EC had announced repolling in seven booths in Firozabad, of which three booths each were in Jasrana and Sirsaganj and one booth was in Shikohabad. At booth number 54 in Sirsaganj, 94% polling was recorded by 3pm. Two other booths in Firozabad, booth number 38 and 151 also witnessed 91.5% and 92% polling respectively till 5pm.
