Among those expected to attend the Madhya Pradesh meeting on Wednesday are JDU dissident leader Sharad Yadav — the co-ordinator of Opposition meet ings—Anand Sharma ( Congress), Sitaram Yechury (CPM), Tariq Anwar (NCP), Dharmendra Yadav (SP), Manoj Jha (RJD), D Raja (CPI) and Prakash Ambedkar (RPI-P).

“The Opposition ‘Save India’s Composite Culture’ conference is aimed at making people aware of the need to protect the country’s pluralist culture which is under threat from the BJP-RSS combine and will also further demonstrate the increasing unity among the like-minded Opposition parties,” said Anand Sharma of Congress.

The organisers also said since a series of such meetings is being planned across states, the agreement among these parties is to hold such meeting on rotation keeping in mind the availability and convenience of leaders.

While such conferences will be held in almost all states, the political priority will be hold such conferences first in BJP-ruled states as well states which are slated for Assembly elections.
