In dig at Prithviraj, Ashok Chavan, Saamana says an old groom will be seen as a joke

Mumbai: A Saamana editorial on Monday took potshots at two senior most Congress leaders in Maharashtra and said that they were similar to, 'old pickles and old grooms'. The editorial in 'Saamana' was speaking about how the two Congress leaders have been pushing for a plum ministerial berth in the Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharashtra. “After the Nagpur assembly session, the portfolios will be distributed again. Two former Chief Ministers improwant to come in to the cabinet. When two former Chief Ministers come in to the cabinet then what is the right portfolio to be given to them, this is a question. It would be a huge task to accommodate them.” The editorial then goes on to say that in Maharashtra politics more 'fresh faces' are expected. “Old pickles look good in food only. An old groom will be seen as just a joke, this is what the people feel but who woud make way for the youngsters,” said the edit.

The edit further goes on to say that those lobbying for ministerial berths are looking at 'plum' ministerial berths. Sena leaders said that Sanjay Raut’s editorial was clearly aimed at the two senior Congress leaders Prithviraj Chavan and Ashok Chavan, according to sena leaders the two have lobbied with the Congress leadership and want a 'suitable' ministerial berth for them in the government.

The Shiv Sena is not too keen on having these two ministers in the government as it believes that having two former Chief Ministers in the cabinet could come in the way of the Sena running the government efficiently. The Saamana edit without naming Ashok chavan has said:“People should come out of the illusion that if they are not in the government then it will not function.”
