If you visit Chickpet area, the first thing you’ll notice are the bad roads. This is followed by congested roads, private vehicles parked on the street, foul smell and a crisis of garbage management. But the area is more than just that. The constituency covers seven BBMP wards and as such has far more demands than other constituencies.

For Gopala Krishna, one of the resident living near Tippu Sultan Palace Road, it is the road that is the main issue. For him, the area is suffering as private transport buses are being parked on major roads. “We have approached the authorities many times but it was of no use. The MLA should have taken care of this and he could have at least fixed the time so it would not affect the lives of people living here,” he said.

For a trader Rathan Mohan, the concerns of the infrastructure are all that matter. “This is the core are of business in the city. The trading is high and it can become better if there is better infrastructure,” he said.
