During the central committee meeting of the party, which concluded on Sunday, the proposal to hoist the national flag on Independence Day was approved. With this approval, the state committee will hoist the national flag for the first time in its history in its headquarters at Alimuddin Street and also all other district and branch offices across the state, CPI-M sources said.
Sujan Chakraborty said, “We will celebrate the 75th Independence Day and it will be celebrated by the party across the state, starting from Alimuddin Street headquarter of the party. In the past, it was done but not as a decision to celebrate it everywhere.”
Meanwhile, the central committee of the Left Front has sought a reply about the party’s strategy which led to poll debacle in the recently concluded assembly polls, saying that the state Left leadership had strategy related problems while handling the polls.
The state leaders were asked why such a poll debacle was witnessed in Bengal. CPI-M-led Left Front and its ally Congress have not won a single seat in the assembly polls this year while another alliance partner ISF has won only one seat. Criticism was galore about CPI-M’s decision to rope in ISF, which was considered communal, and failed to appeal the Muslim vote-bank.
