Officials said the recovery rate is expected to grow in the coming days. “Bengaluru’s recovery rate plummeted in July compared with other major cities because of the late outbreak of the infection. The number of new cases reported has remained almost the same in the past two weeks, while there has been a jump in the daily discharges,” a BBMP official said.
Twice this week, the number of patients discharged in Bengaluru and the state was higher than the new cases reported, and officials expect the uptrend to continue. Ten days ago, Karnataka’s recovery rate of Covid-19 patients was 37%.
The jump in the recovery rate over the past week has come as a relief to the administration after the state saw a surge in new Covid cases from mid-July.
Among the 31 districts, including Bengaluru urban, Yadagiri has reported the highest recovery rate of 73.8%, followed by Vijayapura at 70%. Both the districts are in the under-developed North Karnataka region where health facilities are limited. The lowest recovery rate is in Belagavi at 26.4%.
