IMFL door sales: Villagers protest before police station
RAMESWARAM: Residents of three villages around this coastal town staged a protest today in front of the police station near the famous Rameswaram temple, alleging that Indian Made Foreign Liquor was being door delivered by salesmen and demanded that authorities put a stop to it.

The villagers, mostly women from Karaiyur, Serankottai and Natarajapuram hamlets, alleged that such sales had ruined many families as men were tempted to take to liquor as they get it at home, rather than at shops.

The villagers demanded to know if door delivery of liquor was legal and if not how police were not aware of it, as sales had been going for at least a month.

Police said the plight of the women had only now been brought to their notice

The women, dispersed after two hours, but said they would return and adopt the same tactic if door delivery of liquor continued today also.
