Illegal party offices of BJP, CPIM and Congress on government land razed in Tripura

GUWAHATI: BJP led government in Tripura has launched crackdown on illegal offices of political parties in government land.

On Monday around 15 unauthorized political party offices were demolished this included offices of BJP, CPIM and trade union.

There are around 553 such structures in the government land. Recently the state cabinet has decided to free the government and forest land from encroachments.


According to the government estimate this drive will yield around 25 acres of land.

In first phase around 45 offices of political parties which include offices of congress, CPIM and BJP were demolished.

The government has also decided to clear the individual encroachment in the government and forest land.

A senior official in the state government said, “Administration is asked to identity and prepare a list of individual encroachment and very soon action will be initiated against the violators.”

Sanjay Mishra, Officer on Special Duty in the Chief Minister's Office told ET, “The land accrued from encroachment will be utilized for public parking space and creation of amenities for women. We will talk to union ministry for creation of training centre on different skills for women.”

Another state government official, “We are clear thatunauthorized structure of political parties will be razed. The new government has even demolished offices of the BJP so there is nopolitical vendetta.”

Opposition CPIM has threatened to take legal recourse to challenge the demolition drive.
