Illegal immigrants in Assam should be sent to Bangladesh: BJYM

Attacking the UPA govt for failing to control the violence in Assam, BJYM demanded that the illegal immigrants in the state be identified and sent back to Bangladesh.

NEW DELHI: Attacking the Congress-led UPA government for "failing to control" the violence in Assam, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today demanded that the illegal immigrants in the state be identified and sent back to Bangladesh.

BJYM chief and Lok Sabha member Anurag Yadav also claimed that out of 126 constituencies of Assam, the illegal immigrants have established their majority in 56.

"BJP had already warned the Central government that out of the 126 constituencies in Assam, these illegal immigrants have established their control in 56 constituencies...We demand that these illegal occupants be identified and sent back to Bangladesh," Thakur said.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the two day-long executive committee session of BJYM's Karnataka unit.

Thakur also said that the members of BJYM will visit the riot-affected areas of Assam to inculcate confidence among the affected people there.

Targeting the central government, he said, "Congress-led UPA government has completely failed in controlling the violence in Assam. While the state was burning in these clashes, the Central government's only concern was its vote bank."

He further alleged, "Instead of worrying about the local residents of these places, the central government has always taken the side of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh."

Thakur also demanded that the country's border with Bangladesh be sealed to ensure safety and security of people in Assam.
