NEW DELHI: The Twitter handle of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here was hacked today and a "derogatory" message was posted on its page.

IGIA is operated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) -- a joint venture between GMR, AAI and Fraport AG.

"The incident happened at 11 am when a derogatory message was posted. The post was removed within 10 minutes. An internal inquiry has also been initiated," an airport source said.

"Our Twitter handle @Delhi_Airport was subjected to a hacker attack. This was noticed and timely action was taken to prevent any further attacks. One inadvertent post published through our handle was immediately removed and normalcy restored with added security measures," Delhi International Airport Limited said in a statement posted on its Twitter page.
