If voted to power, NDA will rein in goons: Rajnath Singh
MOTIHARI: Union home minister Rajnath Singh has said that not a single charge of corruption has been levelled against the BJP-led NDA government headed by PM Narendra Modi during the last 17 months, whereas during the UPA rule there were corruption cases galore. He said Bihar voters wanted a developed and corruption- and crime-free state, and were depending on PM Narendra Modi to deliver.

Addressing an election meeting on Monday at Patahi under Chiraiya assembly constituency in favour of BJP candidate Lalbabu Prasad, Singh announced he will not allow any attempt by outside forces to lower the dignity and esteem of the country. He said earlier, there were frequent firings by Pakistani army on the Indo-Pak border resulting in a number of casualties, but now he has instructed the Border Security Force (BSF) to give a befitting reply for ceasefire violations.

Singh said the objective of politics should be to promote justice, but it has become an instrument to spread caste and religion feelings to collect votes. "Bihar has only seen destruction, not development, under the Lalu and Nitish regimes," he said. He assured people that if NDA comes to power after this election, the first priority of the government would be to streamline law and order in the state, including checking terrorist activities. "No criminal and gangster will be able to freely roam on roads if NDA comes to power in Bihar," he said.

Referring to other issues facing the people of the state, Singh said the state government has not been able to procure paddy or wheat from farmers at remunerative prices from their doorstep, fertilizers are not available in market while canals have become defunct and state tubewells are out of order. "People are not getting adequate power but often receive highly inflated bills. There is anarchy in this state," the minister said. He appealed to people to vote for the BJP to make a modern and developed Bihar.
