NEW DELHI: Controversial BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj has said that Bihar must realise it has “cancer” and needs “immediate surgery” if it has any hope for development and that if BJP loses in Bihar, it would be “Bihar’s loss and not Modi’s or Amit Shah’s”.

His remarks came on Sunday barely hours after BJP chief Amit Shah asked him to temper his language in a one-on-one meeting at the BJP headquarters here. “Bihar ko cancer ki bimari hai aur usey surgery ki zaroorat hai (Bihar is suffering from cancer and it desperately needs a surgery)” he told ET.

“People like Modi and Amit Shah want Bihar to propel forward. Par agar Bihar uthna nahi chahta to yeh uska durbhagya hoga...(But if Bihar does not want to grow it will be its misfortune...) ,” the MP from Unnao told ET. “I have been hearing reports lately that we might lose Bihar. If that happens it is entirely Bihar’s loss, not Modi or Amit Shah’s,” he said.

Admitting that both UP and Bihar are difficult states for BJP to conquer, he said: “These are states that don’t want to rise above caste. There is nothing right going on in Bihar. The Yadavs will abuse Lalu and still vote for him. Even Nitish, despite striking an alliance with Lalu, will find support.

The people of Bihar get played by their leaders easily.” “I am a sanyasi who believes in everyone’s welfare. I really hope Bihar wakes up and makes the right choice,” he added.

Maharaj also said he was summoned by party chief Amit Shah on Sunday, but he contradicted reports that he was pulled up for his controversial remarks on Dadri and beef. “The party president is like a father to us, a margdarshak who guides his sons.
