IED-like object found on railway tracks
An object similar to an IED kept inside a pressure cooker by suspected NDFB militants was recovered from railway tracks at Pasnoy in Assam.
The device left on railway tracks over a bridge near Majbat in the Dhekiajuli police station area was noticed by a person last evening, they said.
The Army bomb disposal squad recovered the new five-litre capacity pressure cooker inside which a plastic bag containing IED-like parts was kept, they said.
The suspicious bomb was being examined to ascertain if it was an explosive, officials said, adding the NDFB's anti-talk faction was suspected to have planted the bomb.
Train services on the Rangiya-Rangapara metre guage section of the Northeast Frontier Railway was brought to a halt following the recovery.
