KOLKATA: A city court on Friday granted bail to Idris Ali, president of All India Minority Forum, arrested on the charges of rioting and damaging public property during a strike here to press for revocation of visa for Bangladeshi writer Talima Nasreen last month.

The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sealdah Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee granted bail to Ali.

Earlier on December 5, another city court granted bail to him where he was produced on the same charges.

Ali, however, remained in jail since a non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against him by a Barasat court in connection with another case. Ali was arrested on November 24 on charges of rioting and attempt to murder.
