More than 200 newly elected MLAs are expected to participate in the workshop, it said.

ICAI Eastern Region chairman Mayur Agarwal said the workshop would focus on helping legislators understand the state budget, financial statements and other associated aspects of public financial management.
The sessions will cover budget analysis, government accounting, fiscal responsibility, financial discipline and budget management, with the aim of helping legislators make more informed decisions and strengthen legislative oversight of public finances.
The inaugural session will be attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari as the chief guest and Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose as the guest of honour, the statement said.

ICAI President Prasanna Kumar D said strengthening financial reporting and public financial management across all tiers of government, including local bodies, was strategically necessary.
"These workshops are instrumental in ensuring efficient expenditure and the optimal utilisation of public funds for our citizens," he said.
