BENGALURU: A 31-year-old IBM employee was found murdered in her apartment in Kadugodi on Tuesday night, and police are on the lookout for a man who visited her that afternoon.

Kusum Kumari Singla is suspected to have been attacked with a sharp object and strangled to death, police said. A native of Punjab, she had moved to Bengaluru in September on transfer from IBM's Noida branch.

Singla's flat mate found her dead in a pool of blood when she returned from work around 8 pm on Tuesday. The building's security guard informed police that a man in his 30s had come to see Singla that morning while she was away .

He waited for her and after Singla returned around 12.30 pm, she filled in his details in the visitor register and took him upstairs. Around 3 pm, this man came down alone and left. Prima facie evidence shows Singla died of strangulation, MB Boralingaiah, deputy commissioner of police (Southeast), told ET.
