IB denies failure on its part in Mumbai attacks
NEW DELHI: Intelligence Bureau tonight denied that there was any failure from its part in connection with the terror attacks in Mumbai which claimed over 180 lives.

"I would not say so. This is the time when we should stand united and put greater effort in fighting this menace," Intelligence Bureau Director P C Halder told reporters here.

His response came to a question whether there was any intelligence failure which resulted in one of the worst ever terror attacks in the country.

Asked whether it was a "remarkable victory" for the forces in ending the siege of Mumbai, he said, "it has ended successfully and that is a matter of great happiness for all of us."

He did not directly respond to a query whether intelligence gathering needed to be strengthened saying it was for the government to decide.
